Initially published in the 1950s, this book comprises more than 25 draftings for creating authentic vintage 1950s garments including: fifteen dresses, beach dress, shorts and bikini top, swimsuit coverup top, four suits, four coats. The Haslam System consists of three major components needed to complete any of the beautiful vintage patterns: (1) Books of Draftings, (2) Foundation Drafting Book and (3) Haslam Chart. The 1940s-1950s Books of Draftings require using a separate Foundation Drafting Book containing the foundation drafting instructions that are the base for all Haslam designs. IMPORTANT: When you have a Haslam Chart (very similar to a dressmaking/tailor’s square) or the Foundation Drafting Book, you only need this book to create the patterns for the fashions shown. If you wouldn’t have a Haslam Chart or Foundation Drafting Book, Bramcost Publications has published a book titled “Haslam System of Dresscutting — Vintage Pattern Making for 1920s, 30s, 40s and 50s Fashions (Haslam Chart and Foundation Draftings)” that comprises the other Haslam System components needed to create the fashions. The usage of 14 body measurements, you first create your foundation pattern The usage of the instructions in the beginning of the book and the Haslam Chart. The foundation pattern is your “base” pattern and is used to create the remainder of your custom-fitted patterns for any of the garments The usage of the instructions and diagrams in the book. There are more than 80 Books of Draftings in the Haslam System, with each and every book containing different draftings and fashion styles for pattern making.
